Cyprus’ Meteorology Department orange warning for extreme maximum temperature is in effect from midnight until 1700 hrs (local time) on Saturday.
The Meteorology Department said that the maximum temperature on Saturday is expected to reach around 44 degrees Celsius over inland areas and 34 over higher mountainous areas.
The Forestry Department announced that there is still a red alert in place for the risk of forest fires on Saturday.
Public is reminded that causing a fire constitutes an offense which carries severe penalties, according to the law.
The public is urged to be particularly careful during their outings, completely avoiding activities that may cause a fire.
If citizens notice smoke or fire, they are asked to immediately call 1407 (Forestry Department) or 112 (Fire Department).
