
A case of West Nile Virus has been detected in South Cyprus.
It was announced that an elderly person residing in Mammari village was infected with the disease and is now receiving treatment in intensive care.
It was reported that a resident in the Mammari village in South Cyprus was hospitalized due to the West Nile Virus and now authorities are taking measures and spraying the area.
According to a South Cyprus news website, an elderly person residing in the village of Mammari was hospitalized and is in the intensive care due to the West Nile virus transmitted by mosquitoes.
While the patient is reportedly in critical condition, spraying work has started in areas where mosquito population is thought to be dense.
According to the news, the case in question was the first case detected in South Cyprus this year.
