24th Büyükkonuk Eco Day

The 24th Büyükkonuk Eco Day event organized in cooperation with Mehmetçik Büyükkonuk Municipality and Büyükkonuk Eco Tourism Association was held on Sunday at the village square.

While several of the events were cancelled due to the unfavourable weather conditions, speeches were made and local products were sold at the stands.

Delivering a speech at the event, Mehmetçik Büyükkonuk Municipality Mayor Fatma Çimen Tuğlu reminded that the first eco day event of the country started in Büyükkonuk in 2007 with a few stands and emphasized the importance of keeping the country’s culture alive and transferring it to future generations.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu stated that such events added value to the people of the region in terms of economy as well as keeping the culture alive.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel noted that Büyükkonuk comes to mind when it comes to eco days and noted that although this year’s event was negatively affected by the rainy weather, he expressed the hope that the people of the region will be able to sell what they have produced.

Deputy President Zorlu Töre for his part said that festivals contribute greatly to the survival of the country’s culture.brt
