A bus driver scheduled to transport students on a school excursion in the Paphos district tested positive for drugs during a routine check on Thursday.
Police officers, in coordination with the Lyceum Directorate, visited the school in the morning to conduct safety inspections on six buses designated for the trip. As part of the checks, all six drivers underwent preliminary drug tests.
One driver tested positive for drug use during the initial screening. Authorities collected additional samples for a comprehensive laboratory analysis to confirm the presence of illegal substances.
To ensure student safety, the driver was immediately replaced, and another driver was called in to carry out the transportation.
