State Young Artists Competition

The award ceremony and exhibition opening of the 13th State Young Artists Competition, organized by the Department of Culture under the Deputy Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment, was held.

Hosted by Eastern Mediterranean University, the event took place at the Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Centre, and began with speeches.

Director of the Department of Culture, Şirin Zaferyıldızı Ağaoğlu, stated that the competition was organized in line with contemporary art standards and noted that young people are those who would carry the country forward.

Rector of Eastern Mediterranean University, Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç, also highlighted the importance of the competition in discovering and honouring young talents.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu, in his speech, stressed the importance of art.

He stated that branches of art were crucial for passing the culture of a nation to future generations.

Ataoğlu also stressed that after 26 years, a theatre building would be brought back into use, adding that this reflects the value given to both the public and artists.

Following the speeches, awards were presented to the young winners, and the exhibition was officially opened. brt
