Tatar appeared live on Azerbaijan’s Real TV

President Ersin Tatar appeared live on Azerbaijan’s news channel Real TV.

Speaking there, the President said, “Recognition is an important element for a sovereign state to maintain its existence. However, even without recognition, we are determining our own future as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).”

“As the TRNC, we have our own legislative, executive, and independent judiciary. With our institutions and organizations, the TRNC is a state. Cyprus, with its position and strategic importance, is highly valuable. We are progressing with this awareness” Tatar stressed.

Explaining that he participated in the “Young Power of the Turkic World: One Nation, Three States Vision Workshop”, organized in cooperation with the National Unity Party (UBP), Türkiye’s Justice and development Party (AKP), and Azerbaijan’s New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), he stressed that Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and the TRNC will always and under all circumstances remain united as “one nation, three states.”

Touching upon the TRNC being accepted as an observer member of the Organization of Turkic States, the President stressed that this was a very important and valuable development for the Turkish Cypriot people.

He added that this development had increased the TRNC’s status, calling it a historic step and a historic decision.

Underlining that the TRNC’s membership in the Organization of Turkic States under its own name supported the ongoing two-state political struggle, Tatar stated that they wanted to continue along their path by asserting their political stance as a separate state in the north of Cyprus.

Stating that the Greek Cypriot side saw the Turkish Cypriot people as a minority and wanted to annex them to the Republic of Cyprus, he stressed that this was out of the question, and that they aimed for a two-state solution where the people will live in happiness, peace, and security.

Stressing that a solution could only be reached on the basis of sovereignty and two separate states, Tatar said that significant progress could be made through cooperation between two states.

He reiterated that sovereignty was a crucial element, and that the Turkish Cypriot people, in pursuit of a bright future, would continue to advance by embracing their national values and following the path lit by Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Highlighting the importance of the new policy that proposes a solution model based on cooperation between two sovereign and equal states, President Tatar stressed the legitimacy of this new policy, which has been put forth with the full support of motherland Türkiye, and noted that they would continue to promote it to the international community.

Reiterating his earlier statement, President Tatar said, “The TRNC is a sovereign state. Recognition is an important element for a sovereign state to maintain its existence. However, even without recognition, we are determining our own future as the TRNC. We have our own legislative, executive, and independent judiciary. With our institutions and organizations, the TRNC is a state. Cyprus, with its position and strategic importance, is highly valuable. We are progressing with this awareness.”

President Tatar also reminded that during his visit to Azerbaijan, he met with President Ilham Aliyev.

He highlighted the support and dedication shown by Ilham Aliyev in promoting the TRNC, noting that this effort was a valuable step for the Turkish Cypriot people.

Stressing that the historical and heartfelt bonds between Azerbaijan and the TRNC were very deep, Tatar expressed his satisfaction with the increasing cooperation and joint activities with the people of Azerbaijan, saying:

“As children of the same nation and of the same origin, we share the same language, religion, culture, and unity of heart. We are the true brothers of the Azerbaijani people. On this occasion, I extend my sincerest respects and greetings to all the people of Azerbaijan” he said.

The President expressed his belief that the ties between Azerbaijan and the TRNC would continue to grow stronger with each passing day, and he thanked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his contributions to the development of these relations.

Stressing the Turkish Cypriot people’s long-standing resistance on the island, Tatar reiterated that the TRNC would continue its existence with its own state.

President Tatar concluded by stating that, with the support of motherland Türkiye, they would continue to advance on this path and expressed his appreciation for the support given by friendly countries to the Turkish Cypriot people on their journey with their own state.
