Informal 5+1 Summit to be held on Thursday

Details of President Ersin Tatar’s New York program have been finalized.

President Tatar, who departed on Tuesday morning for the informal 5+1 summit, will begin his meetings on Wednesday and hold several key talks, including with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

The expanded meeting in the 5+1 format will take place on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Türkiye will be represented at the summit by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

Details of President Ersin Tatar’s contacts in New York as part of the informal 5+1 summit have been clarified.

President Tatar, who arrived in New York at midnight, will be accompanied at the summit by Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, Special Representative Güneş Onar, Legal Advisor to the President Sülen Karabacak, Confidence-Building Measures and Bilateral Technical Committees Coordinator Seniha Birand Çınar, Special Advisor for International Relations and Diplomacy Hüseyin Işıksal, and Foreign Press Officer Kerem Haser.

As part of the New York program, on Wednesday the UN Secretary-General will hold bilateral meetings with delegations and take individual photos, followed by a dinner to kick off the event.

The program will continue on Thursday, July 17 with bilateral and inter-delegation meetings.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will meet with President Ersin Tatar and his delegation.

President Tatar will also hold a bilateral meeting with UK Minister for Europe Stephen Doughty.

Later, the main session of the 5+1 format, lasting two hours, will be held on the 27th floor of the UN Headquarters.

After the session, President Tatar will hold a press conference at the UN Headquarters.

The delegation will depart New York on July 18 to return to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Meanwhile, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will also attend the “Expanded Informal Meeting on Cyprus” to be held in New York on July 16–17.

According to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Greece will be represented by Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis, and the United Kingdom by Minister of State for Europe, the Americas and Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty.
