In a move aimed at revitalizing the tourism sector, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu has announced a significant financial support package for hotels across the country.
At a press conference launching the “A Breath of Life” grant program, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu revealed that 70 member hotels of the Cyprus Turkish Hoteliers Association—excluding those with casinos and five-star status—will receive financial assistance totaling 38 million Turkish Lira.
Each qualifying hotel will be granted 400,000 TL, plus an additional 1,000 TL per bed.
The minister emphasized that the initiative aims to support small businesses, boost competitiveness, and contribute to overall economic recovery.
He also announced the launch of a Solar Energy System project in cooperation with civil society organizations to help reduce electricity costs for small businesses.
In addition, Ataoğlu mentioned that new initiatives are underway with village and women’s cooperatives to strengthen purchasing power, with more details to be shared once the project is finalized.
Ataoğlu said “Our goal is to make tourism sustainable, increase the competitiveness of small businesses, and stimulate economic revival. Keeping small hotels alive is our priority—and we are working with all our strength to make it happen.”
With additional charter flight incentives reinstated as of January 1st, the ministry is focused on ensuring not just survival, but long-term growth and resilience for the tourism sector. brt
