A fierce overnight battle raged against Türkiye’s wildfires

Türkiye, mourning the loss of 10 fire martyrs, continues its fight against forest fires.

According to the General Directorate of Forestry under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the nightmare persists at 10 different locations.

In the fire that spread from Eskişehir to Afyonkarahisar, strong winds in the region are preventing the blaze from being brought under control.

The flames, which have also affected the village of Sarıcaova in Afyonkarahisar’s İhsaniye district, are being fought by dedicated firefighting teams.

Supporting farmers have dug trenches in the area in an effort to halt the fire’s progress.

The risk of fire continues even in areas where the flames have been contained.

Strong winds are causing flare-ups in some locations.

The General Directorate of Forestry reported that the fires in İzmir’s Gaziemir, Gaziantep’s Şehitkamil, Bilecik’s Gölpazarı, and Bolu’s Mudurnu districts have been brought under control.

The statement also noted that the intensity of the flames has decreased at three points in Sakarya and in Karabük.

It was stressed that while the fires in Bilecik Gölpazarı and Bolu Mudurnu have been controlled, efforts are ongoing to bring the remaining fires under control as quickly as possible.

The statement also highlighted that teams from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change are conducting damage assessments, while Treasury officials are continuing efforts to assess financial losses.
