A wildfire is burning out of control near factories in the Agios Sylas industrial area in Limassol, prompting evacuations and a large-scale firefighting response.
The fire, which broke out Thursday afternoon in a difficult-to-access area, is spreading toward the industrial zone, according to Fire Service spokesman Andreas Kettis.
Firefighters from Limassol and neighbouring regions are battling the flames, attempting to protect the industrial area.
Ambulance crews have been deployed to the scene as a precaution.
Ypsonas municipality, along with aircraft from the Department of Forests and the Cyprus Police, are assisting in the firefighting efforts. The Civil Defence has also been mobilised.
