The 41st Traditional New York Turkish Day Parade was celebrated on Sunday with immense enthusiasm and participation, coordinated by the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications.
The event, initially organized in 1981 by the Federation of Turkish American Associations to protest the killing of Turkish diplomats by the Armenian terrorist organization ASALA, has since become a cherished tradition.
The parade and subsequent festival saw the participation of the TRNC Representative in New York Mehmet Dana.
The event drew a large crowd from the Turkish-American community, as well as from the TRNC, Azerbaijan, and other parts of the Turkish world.
Spectators from New York and neighbouring states lined the sidewalks of Madison Avenue to watch the parade, which included support from various fan associations, Turkish cultural organizations, and students from Turkish-language schools.
The parade began at Madison Avenue and 38th Street, continuing to Madison Square Park on 25th Street, where a concert stage was set up for further celebrations.
Attendees enjoyed spirited performances by Turkish artists and folk dance groups, experiencing a lively atmosphere.
The renowned folk dance troupe, Anadolu Ateşi (Fire of Anatolia), founded by Artistic Director Mustafa Erdoğan, delivered an exhilarating performance that captivated the audience.
Guests also had the opportunity to sample a variety of dishes from Turkish cuisine.
The event featured participation from Turkish officers serving in the New York Police Department (NYPD), along with a performance by the NYPD band.
Adding to the festivities, renowned Turkish singer Rafet El Roman gave a concert, delighting the attendees.
