Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu has condemned the recent remarks made by the Israeli President and Foreign Minister about Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
In a written statement issued on Monday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu emphasized that such comments could lead to tensions between the two countries, noting that this type of language is unacceptable and does not align with diplomatic norms.
Ataoğlu highlighted Turkish President Erdoğan’s well-known determination to defend Türkiye’s national interests and praised Türkiye’s efforts to contribute to regional and global peace.
He also underscored Türkiye’s historical support for the Palestinian cause and the Middle East peace process, stating that this support is crucial for peace and stability.
Ataoğlu criticized the Israeli officials’ language as unconstructive, stating, “Mutual respect and understanding are essential in diplomatic relations. Remarks like these from the Israeli President and Foreign Minister not only harm friendly relations between the two countries but also damage regional peace efforts,” he said.
Calling on Israeli officials to adhere to diplomatic etiquette and act with common sense, Ataoğlu concluded, “The Republic of Türkiye independently determines and implements its domestic and foreign policies with respect for international law and diplomatic norms.
