Ataser: The Sewage Problem Is Being Solved

Exclusive to Haber KıbrısMayor of Lapta-Alsancak-Çamlıbel Municipality, Fırat Ataser, announced that the sewage problem at Emerald Bay Site in the Lapta region has been resolved.

Ataser explained that the site, located near the coast, previously relied on a package treatment system, which proved to be insufficient. “Because the pits were filling up too quickly, residents had to call a sewage truck every two to three days and pay for it themselves,” he said.

Emphasizing that the municipality acted in agreement with the local community, Ataser stated, “We started the work after receiving approval from the residents. An agreement was reached, £1,000 was collected, and we took steps toward installing the new system. This week, with electricity being supplied to the system, it will become operational.”

Ataser noted that once the project is completed, 127 households will benefit from the new sewage system. “This issue has been on our agenda since I took office. Property owners had long been requesting a solution. The package treatment system was both inadequate and costly to operate. With the sewage line now in place, the problem has been resolved permanently,” he said.
