Ataser: “There is no personalized road-intersection arrangement”

Lapta-Alsancak-Çamlıbel (LAÇ) Mayor Fırat Ataser stated that the claims raised do not reflect the truth and said they wanted to make a statement to inform the public. Emphasizing that the intersection in question is not only in front of Prime Minister Üstel’s house, but also at a point where many roads intersect, Ataser stated that a regulation was requested to allow the military to make an emergency exit. He also mentioned that local shopkeepers wanted an intersection to be made between the two roundabouts to ease transportation. Ataser highlighted that the work being done is not aimed at individual interests.

He acknowledged the criticisms regarding the shortcomings and stated that efforts were ongoing to address these issues quickly. Ataser said, “A 40-year-old road is being brought to life, a 40-year-old problem is being solved.” He added that it was unfortunate to focus on accusations related to personal interests instead of this. Responding to questions about traffic accidents, Ataser stated that construction and regulation works on the road are continuing, and once completed, the existing problems would be resolved. He emphasized that citizens should drive slowly during this process and mentioned that they aim to set up a camera system to regulate traffic until the road is finished.
