Ataser: “Those who do not comply with the laws will account to justice!”

Lapta-Alsancak-Çamlıbel Municipality Has Declared War on Illegal Construction

President Fırat Ataser Challenged:
THOSE WHO DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE LAWS WILL ACCOUNT TO JUSTICE!

While illegal construction without planning and permit approval has increased in many regions of the country, the Lapta-Alsancak-Çamlıbel Municipality has decided to impose legal sanctions against illegal structures that they have been closely monitoring for a long time within their jurisdiction. Lapta-Alsancak-Çamlıbel Mayor Fırat Ataser stated that the region is undergoing rapid development and announced that all necessary legal actions have been initiated against illegal construction. Ataser warned, “The rules apply to everyone; no one can see themselves above the laws and regulations. In this context, we evaluate complaints on-site with inspections. Those who do not comply with the laws will account to justice.”

FOUR-YEAR LEGAL STRUGGLE AGAINST ILLEGAL CONSTRUCTION

An example of illegal construction in Alsancak was brought to light by a legal battle initiated by local resident Emir Bulut since 2018. Gülperi Batık initially occupied land belonging to the Housing Authority and then built illegal houses and garages. She did not stop there and went further by erecting walls and fences, exceeding the limits of lawlessness. The Interior Ministry and the municipality announced that legal proceedings have been initiated against Gülperi Batık.

The relevant document stated, “Unauthorized garden walls, garages, and unauthorized additional structures built on the land belonging to Gülperi Batık located at Plot/Map XI 24 W.1/E.2 VILLAGE, Parcels: 169, 171 in Alsancak have been detected, and the necessary legal and judicial processes have been initiated.”

HOW WAS TITLE DEED GIVEN TO STATE LAND?

Research conducted by the news center revealed that the land leased as agricultural land by Yücel Batık in 2008, which later changed hands to his daughters, was eventually leased back to Gülperi Batık, and then titled for a meager amount of 150,000 TL. Some officials at the Girne Land Registry Office are now under scrutiny regarding these claims. The Interior Ministry and the Financial Police are expected to step in to investigate whether any forgery has occurred in the relevant documents.
