The founder of the Republic of Türkiye, Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, will be commemorated on the 86th anniversary of his death with ceremonies and events on Sunday, November 10th, in both Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
At 09:05, the time of Atatürk’s passing, a moment of silence will be observed across the country with sirens sounding; flags on the flagpoles will be lowered to half-mast.
Commemoration ceremonies will be held in all districts and towns, especially in the capital Lefkoşa.
According to information from the National Days Celebration Central Committee, the first ceremony in Lefkoşa will take place at 9:02am at the Atatürk Monument.
The ceremony will begin with wreath-laying at the Monument in protocol order, followed by a moment of silence and the National Anthem, and flags will be lowered to half-mast.
During the ceremony, President Ersin Tatar, the Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa, Yasin Ekrem Serim, and the Commander of the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces Command, Major General Sebahattin Kılınç, will sign the Special Book.
The Atatürk Memorial Program will be held at 9:30am at the Atatürk Cultural Centre in Lefkoşa.
The program will begin with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, followed by a performance by the Lefkoşa Anatolian Fine Arts High School Choir.
During the commemoration, speeches will be delivered by President Ersin Tatar, the Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, and representatives from the Turkish Embassy in Lefkoşa and the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces Command.
The program will conclude with an oratorio performance by the Lefkoşa Anatolian Fine Arts High School.
