As Turkey braces for a cold wave from Siberia, the TRNC Meteorology Department has also announced that an extremely cold air mass will reach the island towards the weekend.
According to the weather forecast issued by the Meteorology Department for the period of February 18–24, the region will generally be under the influence of a low-pressure system—starting with cold and humid air for the first few days and transitioning to very cold and humid conditions from tomorrow onwards.
Cloudy Skies and Rain Throughout the Week
The weather will be partly cloudy throughout the week.
- Today: Scattered showers or thunderstorms are expected, with fog in some areas during the morning.
- Tomorrow: Temperatures will drop by 8 degrees, with rain showers expected until noon.
- Friday: Frost is likely in some areas during the morning.
- Saturday & Sunday: Expect heavy rain, sleet, or even snow in certain areas, with frost in the morning.
- Monday: Partly cloudy skies will return.
Significant Drop in Temperatures
The highest temperatures will range between 16–19°C in inland and coastal areas during the first part of the week but will plunge to 8–11°C by the end of the period.
Strong Winds Expected
Winds will initially blow moderately from the South and East but will shift to the North and West for the rest of the period, becoming strong and occasionally reaching storm or gale force levels.
