Cold front may lead to 10 C temperature drop over the weekend

A cold front is set to affect Cyprus this weekend, bringing strong winds and a sharp drop in temperatures, according to Kitasweather.

Scattered showers are expected across coastal areas and the western half of the island on Friday, with temperatures remaining near seasonal averages of 22-25 degrees Celsius.

Saturday will see improved conditions with increased sunshine and temperatures rising 2-4 degrees above seasonal norms, before the cold front arrives late Saturday night, bringing local rainfall and isolated thunderstorms to northern coastal areas.

The front will usher in strong to gale-force northerly winds on Sunday, with temperatures plummeting to 3-6 degrees Celsius below seasonal averages. Inland areas will see highs of 15-17 degrees Celsius, with coastal regions reaching 16-19 degrees.

Monday will bring even colder conditions, with possible isolated rain showers and snow in higher mountain areas due to sea-effect precipitation. Strong winds will persist, particularly in windward areas and mountain peaks.
