Cold front to bring below-average temperatures to Cyprus

A cold air mass will affect Cyprus from Friday, with temperatures expected to fall below seasonal averages by Sunday, the Department of Meteorology said.

Tonight will be partly cloudy with high-level cloud cover and increased low cloud in western areas.

Winds will be mainly northwesterly, light to moderate at force 3 to 4, with calm to slight seas becoming moderate in western and northern areas.

Temperatures will drop to 10 degrees Celsius inland, around 13 on the coast, and 6 in mountainous areas.

Tomorrow will see occasional increased cloud coverage with westerly to northwesterly winds, moderate to strong at force 4 to 5. Seas will be moderate, becoming rough in western and northern areas. Temperatures will reach around 20 degrees inland and on the coast, and 12 degrees in higher mountains.

Friday may bring isolated rain in mountainous regions, followed by mainly clear conditions on Saturday and intermittent cloud cover on Sunday.

The meteorological service forecasts a gradual temperature decrease through Sunday, falling slightly below seasonal averages.
