CTP leader Tufan Erhürman evaluates Ankara contacts to BRT

Tufan Erhürman, leader of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), shared insights on his recent visit to Ankara in an interview with BRT.

Erhürman emphasized the importance of maintaining strong and proper relations with the Republic of Türkiye.

Commenting on his recent contacts in the Turkish capital, the leader of the main opposition Republican Turkish Party Tufan Erhürman highlighted CTP’s commitment to establishing and maintaining robust dialogues with both economic organizations and political parties in Türkiye.

“For us, it is crucial to have continuous and regular dialogues with economic organizations and political parties in Türkiye. We intend to fully utilize this dialogue mechanism moving forward,” Erhürman stated.

Touching upon the Cyprus issue, Erhürman noted the need for more frequent meetings and exchanges of views.

He underscored the benefits of face-to-face discussions, which allow for a clearer understanding of perspectives and reasoning.

“When you communicate directly, you find it easier to explain why you say what you do and why you think as you do. This often reveals that the differences between us may not be as significant as they appear from the outside. More frequent and productive dialogue can lead to better mutual understanding,” Erhürman said.

The CTP leader also pointed out the geopolitical challenges faced by Türkiye, a country that must simultaneously address issues on a global scale.

He acknowledged that while Türkiye has many concerns, Cyprus remains one of its most significant issues.

“Given the many problems Türkiye faces, closer consultations on Cyprus-related matters can lead to more productive outcomes,” he concluded.
