Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides stated that Cyprus remains steadfast in its pursuit of freedom and reunification through assertive realism and clear political will.
He noted that the recent Geneva developments were a proof of the government’s tireless efforts to overcome the impasse and initiate a meaningful attempt to restart negotiations.
“We approach this development with absolute seriousness, aligning it with our strategic approach—assertive realism, a doctrine pioneered by Glafcos Clerides—our unwavering political determination, and Cyprus’ internationally acknowledged role in the broader region,” he said.
He also highlighted Cyprus’ role as a stabilizing force in the region, with a trajectory of recovery and stability, strengthening all its power factors, which remains a primary concern of the government.
He pointed out that Cyprus has repeatedly received recognition for its economic responsibility, its management of migration, its humanitarian contributions to neighboring war-torn countries, and its stabilizing role in a geopolitically significant region.
