In a significant move to bolster bilateral relations and economic cooperation, the Turkish and TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) governments are set to sign a comprehensive Economic and Financial Cooperation Agreement on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel flew to Ankara last night to finalize the agreement.
The signing ceremony, which will take place today morning, will follow discussions between Prime Minister Üstel and Türkiye’s Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.
Following the signing ceremony, the two leaders will hold a joint press conference.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office, the 2024 Economic and Financial Cooperation Agreement includes financial support for new projects and ongoing initiatives in the TRNC.
It also outlines significant credit and grant support aimed at strengthening various sectors.
The statement emphasized that the agreement was designed with a vision to unlock the TRNC’s potential in all areas, improve and develop its technical infrastructure, and increase the trade volume and production capabilities between Türkiye and the TRNC.
The agreement aims to ensure the efficient and effective use of the provided support and to further strengthen the already robust ties between Türkiye and the TRNC.
The protocol is also expected to contribute significantly to the realization of numerous projects and reforms in a short period, addressing the TRNC’s priority needs.
