EMU holds graduation ceremony

The Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) celebrated the graduation ceremony for the Spring Semester of the 2023-2024 academic year last night.

The event was attended by President Ersin Tatar.

The ceremony commenced with a moment of silence and the national anthem. Following this, top students from various departments delivered speeches, and a symbolic tree-planting ceremony was held.

EMU Rector, Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç, expressed his pride in the 1,937 successful graduates who would be receiving their diplomas.

He highlighted that with these new graduates, the total number of EMU alumni has surpassed 75,000.

Prof. Kılıç extended his congratulations to all graduates.

Erdal Özcenk, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, also congratulated the graduates and wished them success in their future endeavours.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın, President of the Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation, and Coordination Council (YÖDAK), noted the significant developments in higher education over the past 40 years and emphasized YÖDAK’s commitment to advancing higher education further.

President Ersin Tatar, addressing the graduates, congratulated them and encouraged them to persevere through challenges and injustices they might face in life.

He urged the confident young graduates to serve humanity and the future, advising them to always be trustworthy individuals who earn the confidence of others.

Following the speeches, awards were presented to top students, and diplomas were distributed to the graduates.

The ceremony concluded with the traditional cap-tossing celebration.
