Ercan Airport sees passenger and flight surge in first 10 months of 2024

Ercan Airport has experienced a steady rise in both passenger and aircraft traffic throughout the first 10 months of 2024, continuing a trend of growth since its opening.

According to data released by T&T Airport Management, passenger numbers increased by 20.49%, and flights rose by 13.23% compared to the same period in 2023, contributing significantly to both tourism and the national economy.

October 2024 emerged as the peak month, with Ercan Airport accommodating 462,646 passengers—a 13.38% increase from October 2023’s 408,051 passengers. This growth added 54,595 additional passengers to last year’s count.

The traffic growth also boosts state revenue, as T&T Airport Management’s quarterly revenue-sharing with the government, which includes a 56% share of turnover and VAT payments, has increased accordingly.

In the first 10 months of 2024, Ercan served a total of 24,893 flights, up from 21,984 flights over the same period in 2023. In October alone, flight numbers peaked at 2,947, compared to 2,609 in October of the previous year.

Passenger traffic also surged, with 3,936,745 passengers passing through Ercan from January to October 2024—an increase from the 3,267,171 passengers recorded in the same period of 2023.

Ercan Airport’s growth highlights its expanding role as a vital hub for the TRNC, supporting tourism, transportation, and economic development across the region.brt
