Erdoğan congratulates TRNC on 41st anniversary

On the 41st anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan extended heartfelt congratulations to the leaders and the Turkish Cypriot people.

In his message, President Erdoğan praised the TRNC as the culmination of over 60 years of struggle for the Turkish Cypriot community, emphasizing that the Republic continues to strengthen its sovereignty with each passing day, a source of great pride for Türkiye.

Erdoğan highlighted that a just and sustainable solution to the Cyprus issue can only be achieved by recognizing the Turkish Cypriot people’s sovereign equality, equal international status, and rights.

He reiterated his call at the 79th UN General Assembly for the international community to recognize the TRNC and establish diplomatic, political, and economic relations with the country.

Marking the 50th anniversary of the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation, which secured the safety and rights of the Turkish Cypriots, Erdoğan reaffirmed Türkiye’s unwavering support for the TRNC.

He emphasized that Türkiye, as the guarantor state, will continue to protect the rights of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Concluding his message, President Erdoğan expressed his pride in the Turkish Cypriots as an inseparable part of the Turkish nation and wished the Turkish Cypriot people a joyful 15 November Republic Day, sharing in their pride and celebrations.

Meanwhile, the Turkish Foreign Ministry also issued a message to mark the TRNC’s anniversary.

In a post on its official account on X, the Turkish Foreign Ministry wrote: “Happy 41st anniversary of the foundation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the most important symbol of the struggle of the Turkish Cypriots for sovereignty and freedom! Motherland and Guarantor Türkiye will always stand by the Turkish Cypriots and protect their rights and interests.”
