Erhürman “I will strive to create an atmosphere that will help the solution process”

Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman said he is committed to ensuring that the upcoming trilateral meeting contributes to establishing a constructive atmosphere for reviving the Cyprus settlement process.

Speaking ahead of Thursday’s meeting with Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides and the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy Maria Angela Holguín, Erhürman noted that he has been closely following the extensive media commentary, particularly from the Greek Cypriot side.

He emphasized that he will attend the meeting without prejudice and cautioned against placing excessive expectations on this meeting, especially following a prolonged period of stagnation in negotiations.

Highlighting the need for an environment conducive to progress — as also underlined in United Nations Security Council resolutions — Erhürman said his primary goal is to contribute to fostering such conditions.

“My hope is that this meeting will help build the necessary climate for a solution. My efforts will be focused in that direction,” he said.
