Events held for museums week

In celebration of Museums Week from May 18-24, the Department of Antiquities and Museums, under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment, has organized a series of events to engage the public and highlight the importance of museums.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment, Fikri Ataoğlu, visited an event at the Lusignan House in Lefkoşa, where he participated in activities alongside students.

During his visit, Ataoğlu spoke about the significance of museums and the rich cultural heritage of the country, emphasizing the importance of young people understanding their history.

He also mentioned ongoing efforts to extend such activities to all schools.

As part of the Museums Week activities, a series of workshops are taking place today.

Seven different workshops are being conducted by the Science LefkoşaWorkshop for 7th-grade students from the Türk Maarif College Secondary School.

Museum education sessions under the leadership of Assistant Professor Dr. Ferda Öztürk Kömleksiz from the Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Education at Lefke European University are also being held for university students at the Güzelyurt Archaeology and Nature Museum.

The events are designed to foster a deeper appreciation of cultural heritage among young people and to promote the educational value of museums.
