LAÇ Mayor Fırat Ataser emphasized that if household waste is sorted and collected, it would save on waste transportation costs and the separated waste has monetary value, which would provide a resource for the municipality. He stated that they have been working seriously as a team in this direction.
Noting that the first steps have been taken for waste sorting, Ataser mentioned that they have “PREPARED A PROJECT FOR THE EUROPEAN UNION AND THAT THE PROJECT HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE EU,” in cooperation with local civil society organizations such as the Karşıyaka Culture and Arts Association, the KARMADAK Foundation, and the municipal company AL-BEL Yatırım Ltd. In the near future, “THE HOUSEHOLD WASTE OF 69 (SIXTY-NINE) HOUSEHOLDS ON ŞHT MEHMET SALİH MAHAN STREET AND ŞHT MUSTAFA GARDANA STREET IN KARŞIYAKA VILLAGE” will be sorted and collected. This initiative will observe the impact of education on the public and the reactions of the community, and it will also allow for data analysis for the preparation of a larger project.
Ataser stated that their goal is to have the household waste in LAÇ Municipality and its affiliated villages sorted and collected, and through an exemplary project, to prevent the damage caused by household waste, which is a major environmental issue in our country.
