Greek Cypriot side gives Ukraine data on Turkish sanctions evasion

The Greek Cypriot side has provided Ukrainian authorities with information concerning Turkish companies allegedly helping Russia bypass EU sanctions, during Thursday’s meeting between Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv, according to diplomatic sources.

Kyiv reportedly indicated that it intends to raise the matter directly with Ankara. The same sources noted that Zelensky also referred to European companies supplying components used in the production of Russian missiles.

During the talks, the Ukrainian President is said to have requested Cyprus’ support for opening six thematic clusters of negotiation chapters related to Ukraine’s EU accession process.

Christodoulides also presented a package of 19 proposals aimed at boosting assistance to Ukraine during Cyprus’ upcoming EU Presidency. According to information available to CNA, some of these proposals have already received approval from the Ukrainian side, while others are under review.

Zelensky additionally expressed his intention to visit Cyprus within the framework of the EU Council Presidency, CNA has learned.
