The General Secretary of the National Unity Party (UBP) Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu stated that the call to boycott TEKNOFEST did not align with science or modern values.
Speaking on BRT live broadcast, Hasipoğlu said, “Turkish President Erdoğan, kept the promise he made to us. The main opposition Republican Turkish Party (CTP) had previously protested and boycotted his visit to our Parliament. Now, they will be present at the opening on May 3.”
The General Secretary of the National Unity Party (UBP), Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, addressed a range of topics on a live program on BRT on Tuesday.
Wishing the new parliament to be beneficial for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Hasipoğlu said, “We will no longer be sitting in red chairs, but in orange ones in the new building. Once again, we thank the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, for keeping his promise”.
“The main opposition Republican Turkish Party (CTP) had previously protested and boycotted his visit to our parliament. Now, they will be present at the opening ceremony of the new Parliament and Presidency building on May 3. We invite all our people to the opening and to TEKNOFEST,” said Hasipoğlu.
Regarding recent developments among the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States, the UBP General Secretary commented, “The fact that Turkic States are opening embassies in the Greek Cypriot administration does not mean they will not engage with us. You will see that in the coming months, high-level meetings will continue. We will keep fighting for the TRNC to take its rightful place in the international arena.”
Commenting on the Greek Cypriot side’s so-called proposal to Türkiye, Hasipoğlu described it as impertinence and reiterated that the counterpart of the Greek Cypriot side was the TRNC.
Stressing that TEKNOFEST was an important promotional opportunity for the TRNC, Hasipoğlu criticized the teachers’ union KTOEÖS’s call to boycott the event.
“The call by KTOEÖS to not attend TEKNOFEST does not align with contemporary values. I do not find such statements appropriate. Even under harsh economic conditions, our motherland, Türkiye has made great sacrifices to bring TEKNOFEST to the TRNC. This is a sign of the importance Türkiye places on the Turkish Cypriot people, especially the youth, and on the TRNC itself.” BRT
