Lapta AlsancakÇamlıbel Municipality (LAÇ) has announced that they have started biological control against the pine processionary caterpillar.
The statement from the municipality is as follows:
“The pine processionary caterpillar poses a serious threat to human health, animals, and pine trees. The allergic proteins in the caterpillar’s hairs can cause severe allergic reactions in humans and animals. In addition to its effects on human and animal health, it also causes significant damage to trees.
Our pest control teams are diligently carrying out biological pesticide application in forested areas, schools, mosques, parks, and public spaces.
The fight continues for homes as well, and pest control is being carried out in residential areas based on requests.”
