President Ersin Tatar is set to meet with Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides on Monday, January 20, at 10:30 AM.
The meeting will take place at the residence of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Cyprus, Colin Stewart, located in the buffer zone.
The leaders will discuss the possibility of opening new crossing points. President Tatar has previously proposed the opening of a second vehicular crossing point in Lefkoşa, specifically at Haspolat, to alleviate congestion at the Metehan crossing.
However, the Greek Cypriot side has suggested an alternative approach, advocating for horizontal transit routes within the south, rather than opening a new crossing point in response to the Haspolat proposal. brt
