A teddy bear chain formed at the Aetos Stadium in Limassol, Cyprus, on Sunday successfully broke the Guinness World Record for the longest such chain.
The “Teddy Bears for Home, for Home” campaign, initiated by Evita Constantinou 18 months ago, aimed to collect teddy bears from across Cyprus to support the work of the Ronald McDonald House Charities Cyprus. The initiative included collecting donations of teddy bears, selling them at low prices to raise additional funds, and attempting the world record.
The chain reached a length of 3.5 kilometres and included more than 20,000 teddy bears, surpassing the previous record held by England in 2015.
“Today marked the culmination of the ‘Teddy Bears for Home, for Home’ campaign, which began 18 months ago. The goal was to collect teddy bears from all over Cyprus to support the actions of the Ronald McDonald House Charities Cyprus by purchasing them to help families and to carry out a massive reuse campaign,” Constantinou said.
The event also saw dozens of citizens attending the stadium to purchase teddy bears, further contributing to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. (in cyprus)
