Lufthansa extends suspension of flights to the Middle East crisis zone

Connections to Tel Aviv, Beirut, Tehran, Amman, and Erbil have been cancelled until August 13, according to German flag carrier.
Lufthansa, Germany’s flag airline, extended its flight ban to the Middle East crisis zone on Wednesday, citing security concerns.

The Lufthansa Group said in Frankfurt that connections to Tel Aviv, Beirut, Tehran, Amman, and Erbil would be halted until Tuesday, August 13.

The flying prohibition applies to all airlines in the group, including freight and passenger planes. In addition to the primary airline, the Lufthansa Group encompasses Swiss, Austrian, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings.

The Middle East’s security situation has worsened with the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and the Israeli army’s claim to have killed a prominent Hezbollah commander in Beirut.
