Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı said that the Maraş opening must continue and a Betterment Tax Law should be enacted.
Issuing a written statement after the briefing at the Presidency on Tuesday, Arıklı said that the Immovable Property Commission (IPC) should be made more effective by creating resources.
The leader of the Rebirth Party (YDP) and Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı issued a written statement following the briefing held by President Ersin Tatar with the heads of political parties represented in the Republic’s Assembly.
In his statement, Arıklı stated that President Ersin Tatar informed the political parties about the meeting he carried out in London with the Personal Representative of the UN Secretary General Maria Angela Holguin.
Stating that the recent “practices and arrests” by the Greek Cypriot Administration were also evaluated during the meeting, Arıklı said that the views of the party were also conveyed to President Tatar on this issue.
In the written statement, Arıklı listed the views presented by his party under four headings as follows:
1) We must ensure that the Immovable Property Commission is more effective by creating resources.
2) A Betterment Tax Law should be enacted for the Turkification of Greek Cypriot properties in the North.
3) People holding Greek Cypriot property in the North should be allowed to buy Greek Cypriot property directly from the owner.
4) The opening of Maraş must continue and properties belonging to Greek Cypriots in Maraş should be returned to their owners. International legal remedies should be applied for the usurped properties of the Vakıflar Administration and the Vakıflar Administration should be compensated.
Arıklı also noted that his party will continue to raise these issues on every platform, including the Council of Ministers.
