Martyrs of Çınarlı commemorated in solemn ceremony

A solemn ceremony was held at the Çınarlı Martyrs’ Cemetery to honour the memory of Turkish Cypriots who lost their lives for the homeland.

President Ersin Tatar, who attended the commemoration, delivered a firm message on the importance of sovereignty and the two-state solution.

The ceremony began with the laying of wreaths at the Çınarlı Martyrs’ Monument.

Following the recitation of a poem by Hıvsiye Poyrazlı, Kemal Latif, representing the Association of Çınarlı supporters, addressed attendees.

Speaking on behalf of the Association of Çınarlı supporters, Kemal Latif emphasized that their love for the homeland was inspired by the legacy of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

President Ersin Tatar in his speech stated that the Greek Cypriot leadership appeared to be sworn against recognising the rights of the Turkish Cypriot people.

He underlined that the Turkish Cypriot side places great importance on sovereignty and declared:

“We will resolutely protect our state and our sovereignty. We have entered a new path, and there will be no concession from an agreement based on two sovereign and equal states.”

Tatar also declared that “the legacy of our martyrs is our sovereignty”, stressing that the Turkish Cypriot struggle for equal rights and self-determination will continue with determination.

He reiterated that no alternative other than the two-state model would be accepted, and attempts by the Greek Cypriot side to apply pressure would not deter the Turkish Cypriot people.

President Tatar also sharply criticised recent efforts by the Greek Cypriot administration to isolate the TRNC in the international arena.

He asserted that these attempts would be countered with the strong and unwavering support of motherland Türkiye.

Highlighting the enduring unity of destiny between the TRNC and Türkiye, Tatar underlined the vital role of Türkiye’s guarantor status and reaffirmed that Türkiye’s military and political support remains the cornerstone of the TRNC’s security.

He concluded by saying that the Turkish Cypriot side would never abandon its pursuit of sovereign equality and international recognition.

The ceremony concluded with prayers for the fallen.
