Mayor Ataser nursing areas flood wounds

Due to the heavy rains in April, the regions of Lapta, Alsancak, and Karşıyaka experienced severe flooding, leading to road collapses, destroyed walls, and damaged streams. The municipal teams are continuously working to address these issues.

Following the flood within the boundaries of LAÇ Municipality, Mayor Fırat Ataser initiated recovery efforts from the very beginning and conducted field inspections with his teams. To alleviate the difficulties faced by the residents, Mayor Ataser explained, “In our efforts to manage the water overflow in the Lapta, Alsancak, and Karşıyaka regions, we discovered that the course of the streams had changed, the water channels were blocked or non-existent, and there was no place for the water to go. After identifying these issues, we began cleaning the streams and water channels to ensure they flow towards the sea, using both contracted services and our own resources. Additionally, we are constructing box culverts. The repair of damaged walls and roads is ongoing according to a set schedule. Our aim is to take all necessary precautions to minimize such problems in the future and reduce the negative impacts as much as possible.”
