A delegation from the Mersin Tarsus Organized Industrial Zone (MTOSB) is visiting state and government officials in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
The delegation was first received by President Ersin Tatar and later paid a visit to Finance Minister Özdemir Berova.
President Ersin Tatar first received the delegation from the Mersin Tarsus Organized Industrial Zone headed by Sabri Tekli.
According to a statement released by the Presidency, President Tatar stated that domestic production is important in the country, which focuses mainly on tourism.
President Tatar emphasized the importance of investments from Mersin and the sharing of experience.
Pointing to the geopolitical location of Cyprus, President Tatar said that the status of the TRNC has been increased by protecting the rights and laws in the Blue Homeland and the airspace.
Stressing the importance of the support of the Republic of Türkiye in maintaining the two-state politics, President Tatar reminded that they will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation this year and noted that there have been great developments in the country and that the TRNC has become more rooted.
Noting that relations with Azerbaijan have been improving recently, President Tatar added that the TRNC will develop even more in the future.
Finance Minister Özdemir Berova also received the delegation from the Mersin Tarsus Organized Industrial Zone (MTOSB) led by Sabri Tekli.
According to a statement made by the Ministry, during the visit the Minister of Finance Özdemir Berova pointed out that there are strong and historical ties between Türkiye and the TRNC and emphasized the importance of these ties and the importance of joint work and cooperation between the two countries in every field.
“Our main goal is to develop our country economically” said Berova and added that “Mersin has been the main entry and exit gate of maritime transportation between Türkiye and Cyprus from the past to the present, where most of the imports and exports by sea are made through Mersin”.
He said that the TRNC has areas that can be invested in and that they value the cooperation of local and foreign investors that are going to take steps to develop the country’s economy.brt
