Nesil Calışkan became first British MP of Turkish Cypriot origin

Nesil Caliskan, a Labour Party candidate, became the first Turkish Cypriot to be elected to the British Parliament.
35-year-old Caliskan , a Labour Party candidate from Barking in eastern London, won 45% of the vote.
Caliskan, a member of council in London’s Enfield district since 2015, has been chairing the city council since 2018.
