New mobile plant to boost TRNC power supply

A team from Türkiye’s Electricity Generation Company (EUAŞ) is in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to help resolve ongoing electricity issues.

The team has been working at the Teknecik Power Plant and is set to bring Unit 8 online today.

In addition to this effort, a new mobile power plant with a production capacity of 25 MW is scheduled to be sent to the TRNC.

This decision was made as part of coordinated efforts led by the Turkish Embassy in Lefkoşa, with Ambassador Yasin Ekrem Serim at the forefront.

The deployment of the mobile plant is intended to address the electricity shortfall that occurred during peak consumption periods due to technical failures.

With the activation of the diesel-powered Unit 8 and the expected operational status of the mobile plant in September, the electricity supply is expected to meet the consumption needs, minimizing disruptions that have affected multiple sectors.
