An orange weather warning is in force on Wednesday from 11 am until 5.30 pm for extremely high temperatures.
The Meteorology Department has advised the public to take precautions against heat stroke and fires.
According to the statement, the hot weather, which is expected to be 7-9 degrees above seasonal norms, will continue its effect until Friday, June 7.
The temperature is expected to hover around 40-43 degrees inland and 33-36 degrees on the coasts.
The department also warned the public regarding forest fires and heat stroke.
It also called on the public to take precautionary measures if they are going to be working out in the open between 12 noon and 4 pm.
