The Ozanköy Martyrs were commemorated with a ceremony in Girne on Friday.
State, government, military officials and civilian staff as well as families of the martyrs attended the ceremony held in Ozanköy.
Ali Ahmet Barut Kaşıkçı, Nuh Ahmet, Necmi Ali Kaya, Halil İbrahim Recep and Mustafa Hasan Yavaş who had been martyred between 1963-1974 were remembered with a ceremony held in front of the Ozanköy Martyrs’ Monument.
The District Officer of Girne Cemal Òzcemoğlu, Colonel Eyüp Şafak represented the Turkish Peace Forces in Cyprus, Commander Murat Önder Bektaş represented the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces Command, Mayor of Girne Murat Şenkul, representatives of political parties, government officials as well as relatives of the martyrs attended the ceremony.
Following the observance of a minute’s silence, the firing of shots in tribute and the hoisting of flags to the national anthem, prayers and poems were recited for the martyrs.
