The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly, Ziya Öztürkler, emphasized the inherent rights of Turkish Cypriots to sovereign equality, a two-state solution, and equal international status.
He reiterated their commitment to defending these rights and the new political approach.
Highlighting the significance of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s statements during his latest visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Öztürkler noted, “We have once again received the message that Türkiye will always stand by the Turkish Cypriots.”
Speaking during a meeting with Nusrettin Yuca, President of the Turkish Peace Forces Veterans Association, and his delegation, Speaker Ziya Öztürkler stressed the importance of passing on the Turkish Cypriots’ struggle to younger generations.
He praised the veterans for their critical role in ensuring the community’s freedom on the island, acknowledging their significant contribution to the survival and progress of Turkish Cypriots.
Recalling Fidan’s visit to the TRNC Assembly, Öztürkler expressed satisfaction with the strong support conveyed by Türkiye.
He highlighted Fidan’s emphasis on securing international recognition for sovereign equality, the two-state solution, and equal status, stating that these messages provided great strength and morale.
“Our rights, achieved through national struggle and dedication to our homeland, include sovereign equality, two-state governance, and equal international status. We will continue to uphold these rights and advocate for this new political approach,” Öztürkler affirmed. brt
