Öztürkler commemorates Küçük

The Speaker of the Parliament, Ziya Öztürkler issued a message on the 41st anniversary of Dr. Fazıl Küçük’s passing, stressing that he was a pioneering figure who shaped the destiny of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Stressing that Dr. Küçük was a pioneering figure who, together with leading figures and comrades-in-arms of his time, shaped the destiny of the Turkish Cypriot people and left a mark on the history of Cyprus, Öztürkler noted that Küçük had undertaken a sacred duty during a period of bitter and dark days filled with despair for the existence of the Turkish Cypriot community.

Öztürkler added that Küçük was a successful leader who explained to his people the importance and necessity of organization and struggle and who reflected the spirit of struggle to the community.

“With the principle of ‘The goal of our entire struggle is to defend the interests of our people,’ Dr. Fazıl Küçük led a dignified struggle for existence, drawing strength from his people and the support of motherland Türkiye. Always standing shoulder to shoulder with his people, he spearheaded the independence movement, which was crowned with the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on November 15, 1983. His principles, ideals, and steadfast stance are the spiritual legacy he has left us” he said.

“The honourable struggle Dr. Küçük waged with unwavering dedication to elevate our state will never be forgotten. We pledge to uphold and perpetuate the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, entrusted to us by him, under all circumstances and forever. On the 41st anniversary of his passing, I once again commemorate him with respect and mercy. May his soul rest in peace, and may his place be in heaven” Öztürkler concluded.BRT
