Paphos Municipality bans scooters on public roads

The Municipality of Paphos has announced a ban on scooter-type personal mobility devices on its public roads, with the exception of designated cycle paths and lanes, in line with the Law on the Regulation of Bicycle and Personal Mobility Device Traffic.

The decision, made by the Municipal Council on October 7, 2024, aims to enhance safety and reduce risks within the city.

According to the announcement, scooter drivers found violating the ban will be reported by the Traffic Police, who are responsible for enforcing the new rules in public areas. Additionally, any scooters left unattended on streets or sidewalks will be confiscated by the municipality. Owners of confiscated scooters will face penalties and must follow specific procedures to recover their devices.

The Municipality of Paphos urges residents to comply with the new regulations by only using scooters in legally permitted areas, contributing to improved road safety in the city.
