Parl. Speaker Töre receives Larnaka Refugees Association

The Missing Bus Monument, built in memory of the eleven Turkish Cypriots who went missing near Larnaca on May 13, 1964, will be opened in Iskele on May 13.

The eleven workers who had been kidnapped were never heard from again

Their remains had been discovered in a well in October 2006.

The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre, who received the delegation from the Larnaca Refugee’s Association, emphasized the importance of keeping the memory of the martyrs alive.

Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre received a delegation on Wednesday from the Larnaca Refugee’s Association headed by Zarifşen Menteşoğlu.

Speaking during the visit, Menteşoğlu invited Töre to the opening of the Missing Bus Monument that will be take place on the anniversary of the missing bus incident, on May 13.

Speaker Zorlu Töre for his part said that he along with deputies from the Türkiye and Azerbaijan friendship group who will be in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on May 13 will be attending the unveiling ceremony.

“It is our duty to commemorate and remember all the martyrs,” Töre said, noting that those who do not protect their martyrs and veterans cannot say that they have a state.
