A delegation from the Republic’s Assembly’s Economy, Finance, Budget and Planning Committee, chaired by Resmiye Eroğlu Canaltay, held meetings at Ministries on the last day of their visit to Ankara.
In the first meeting, the delegation visited the Turkish Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance İlhan Hatipoğlu.
Speaking during the visit, Hatipoğlu said that they will continue to work in cooperation in order to take the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) further and strengthen the institutional structure.
Stating that the contributions continue in coordination with the TRNC Development and Economic Cooperation Office, Hatipoğlu stated that the planning of the works to be carried out for the new period is ongoing.
Canaltay for her part stated that the Law on Games of Chance was passed by the Assembly and that this will lead to an increase in revenues for the government.
Stating that they will start working on the Leveraged Transactions Draft Law, Canaltay said that with this law, unrecorded purchases will be recorded and will contribute to the economy.
The delegation also visited the Turkish Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Ahmet Yozgatlıgil.
While receiving the delegation Yozgatlıgil said that as Türkiye, they will continue to advocate for a two-state solution and work to increase the welfare level of the Turkish Cypriot people.
He noted that Türkiye, which is a power in its region and has a voice in the world, will support all kinds of plans and projects for the development of the TRNC.
He also stated that they aim to increase the trade volume with the TRNC, which is realized as 2 Billion 236 Million dollars, to 5 Billion dollars.
Committee Chairman Resmiye Eroğlu Canaltay for her part said that they expect the tender covering the Güvercinlik region to be completed as soon as possible.
Explaining the difficulties experienced in exports, Canaltay asked for support from Türkiye for investments and breakthroughs to be made in the field of technology.
