PM Ünal Üstel to attend Friday’s Isias Trial in Adıyaman

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel will be attending Friday’s hearing on the ongoing trial related to the Isias Hotel case, which resumes in Adıyaman on Friday.

Before he departed for Adıyaman, Üstel travelled to Istanbul on Wednesday to meet with legal experts.

Speaking at Ercan, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said that the quest for justice for the children who perished when the İsias Hotel collapsed during the February 6 earthquake in Türkiye, was continuing.

He said that the trial was being closely followed by everyone in the TRNC and that they would continue to pursue the matter until justice was served.

Üstel said that the government was closely monitoring the legal proceedings and was providing support in every possible way.

He recounted the extensive efforts made since the initial trial, including numerous meetings with legal teams, bringing them to the TRNC twice for consultations, and dispatching a parliamentary delegation to Ankara to oversee the proceedings.

Recalling that nearly 100 individuals were mobilized for the first trial, Üstel reiterated that a large and comprehensive delegation would attend the April 26 hearing under the coordination and support of the Prime Ministry.

“In summary, as the Prime Ministry, we have done everything necessary for the pursuit and conduct of a trial, wherever we needed to be, we have been there, and we continue to do so. Today, I am heading to Istanbul to receive updates on newly prepared reports and recent developments related to the case. Tomorrow, I will meet with the teams arriving from the TRNC in Istanbul and proceed together to Adıyaman,” Üstel explained.

Asserting their unwavering support for families who lost their loved ones in the earthquake, Üstel reaffirmed, “We stand behind our common cause. We stand behind all the promises we have made.”

Expressing confidence in the expeditious completion of the trials and the delivery of justice, Üstel added, “I want to emphasize our full trust in the Turkish judiciary at this point.”

Üstel concluded by extending his best wishes to the legal team for the upcoming hearings, urging patience and resilience for the families, and offering prayers for all the lives lost in the earthquake.BRT
