President Ersin Tatar attended the Liberation Week event in Istanbul

President Ersin Tatar attended the Liberation Week event in Istanbul, organized to mark the 105th anniversary of Kahramanmaraş’s liberation.

In his speech at the event, President Tatar referred to the February 6 earthquake, stressing that the Turkish Cypriot people shared this sorrow with the Turkish nation.

Addressing the Cyprus issue, Tatar stressed that if there was to be a fair, lasting, and sustainable agreement in Cyprus, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus must undoubtedly be a part of it.

He also underlined the importance of maintaining the sacred and historical ties with the motherland, Türkiye.

“When we look at history, there are many significant turning points that connect us,” Tatar said, adding that one of these milestones was the Cyprus Peace Operation on July 20, 1974.

The President also expressed his pride in representing the Turkish Cypriot people as an independent state in the Eastern Mediterranean, under their own flag, ensuring their destiny, independence, freedom, and dignified existence.

As part of his contacts in Istanbul, President Tatar also visited the Fatih Central Library.

Engaging in discussions with young people there, he expressed his satisfaction with the library’s contribution to education, as it provides services 24/7.

Stressing the importance of such social and cultural spaces, Tatar said, “It is of great significance for the future of our country that young people actively benefit from such modern libraries.”

He also highlighted the importance of the brotherhood and solidarity between Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, extending his best wishes for the success of the youth.

Fatih Mayor Mehmet Ergün Turan provided President Tatar with information about the library’s operations, projects, and the opportunities offered to young people.
