President Ersin Tatar met with representatives from the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association (MÜSİAD) and the World Turkish Business Council (DTİK) in Sydney.
The gathering also included officials from Turkish media based in Australia.
Among those welcoming President Tatar were Hakan Evecek, President of MÜSİAD Sydney, Hasan Gençtürk, President of DTİK Sydney, and Yüksel Çifçi, President of Australia-based Turkish Media.
Numerous representatives from the Turkish and Turkish Cypriot business communities were also in attendance.
President Tatar’s visit coincides with the 80th anniversary of the Turkish Cypriots’ migration to Australia. He expressed pride in the achievements of Turkish and Turkish Cypriot communities in Australia, noting their significant contributions to the country’s economy and its cultural diversity.
“You have become successful businesspeople in your fields. Your role extends beyond business cooperation and development; it also involves enriching social and cultural diversity by contributing to the Australian economy,” said Tatar.
Highlighting the importance of strengthening ties between the Turkish nation and Turkish Cypriots, President Tatar emphasized that this topic is always a priority during his visits to Türkiye.
“Türkiye, our motherland, is the most powerful country in the Eastern Mediterranean. The Republic of Türkiye, due to its geographical location, is central in its relations with various countries in the region. Strengthening the TRNC and leveraging Türkiye’s historical, political, economic, and social connections in the Eastern Mediterranean and Blue Homeland are crucial for our national and civil interests,” he stated.
President Tatar also called on Turkish and Turkish Cypriot business leaders in Australia to invest in the TRNC, despite the inhumane isolations faced by the region.
He stressed that with Türkiye’s support and the relentless efforts of the Turkish Cypriot people, the TRNC continues to develop and prosper.
